Reflections on One Year at University of Manchester as a visiting scholar

Abstract:

The China Scholarship Council (CSC) is an institution aiming to improve the training of creative and distinguished postgraduates and enhance the development of China’s higher education. Over the past serval years, CSC has sponsored many talented Chinese students for overseas study. From November 2017 to October 2018, I was sponsored by CSC to perform one-year research work at School of Materials, University of Manchester. During my stay, I worked together with Prof. ConstantinosSoutison the mechanical properties of graphene nanoplatelet (GnP)/epoxy composites. A brief introduction of UoM and Prof. Costas’s group in which I studied will be given in my presentation.

Bio Sketch of Ms. Zhang Jingjing:

Zhang Jingjing is a fifth year Ph.D. student in professor DuanYugang’s group in the school of mechanical and engineering at Xi’an Jiaotong University, Xi’an, China. She is sponsored by the China Scholarship Council to conduct a one-year research as a visiting PhD student during November 2017-October 2018 under the supervision of Professor ConstantinosSoutis in the School of Materials at the University of Manchester. His research focuses on the modelling damage mechanisms and structural health monitoring using low frequency lamb wave techniques.
