Reflections on one Year at U of T as a CSC Visiting Scholar

Abstract

The China Scholarship Council (CSC) is an institution aiming to improve the training of creative and distinguished postgraduates and enhance the development of China’s higher education. Over the past several years, CSC has sponsored many talented Chinese students for overseas study. From September 2017 to September 2018, I was sponsored by CSC to perform one-year research work at Department of Mechanical & Industrial Engineering, University of Toronto. During my stay, I worked together with Prof. Viliam Makis on machinery fault diagnosis and reliability engineering. A brief introduction of U of T and Makis group in which I studied will be given in my presentation.

Bio Sketch of Mr. Yonghao Miao

Miao Yonghao is a fifth year Ph.D. student in Professor Jing Lin’s group in the School of mechanical engineering at Xi’an Jiaotong University, Xi’an, China. He is sponsored by the China Scholarship Council to conduct a one-year research as a visiting PhD student during September 2017- September 2018 under the supervision of Professor Viliam Makis in the Department of Mechanical & Industrial Engineering at University of Toronto, Canada. His research focuses on the machinery fault diagnosis and reliability engineering.
